Day Trips From Bainbridge Island

Day Trips From Bainbridge Island Port Townsend

The weather is finally warming up in the PNW and it has me dreaming of all the amazing places to visit locally. One of the beauties of where we live is all the outdoorsy places to visit in close proximity. Here are some of my favorites.

Finnriver

Port Townsend

Located in the Olympic Peninsula, Port Townsend, a charming little town by the sea, has so much natural beauty and so many fun things to do. Port Townsend is about an hour’s drive from Bainbridge making it a perfect day-trip destination.

Day Trip Itinerary:

Seal Dog Coffee Bar

Start your day off with a matcha (or a cup of coffee) at this cute little coffee shop across the street from the farmer’s market. They also have some yummy gluten-free goodies!

Jefferson County Farmers Market (if you are visiting on a Saturday)

Stroll through the market, pick out some fresh produce for later, grab a gluten-free cupcake, vegan ice cream, or even a yummy lunch! There is so much to choose from. Don’t forget to pack a cooler so you can take the goodies home!

Fort Worden Historical State Park

Drive out to Fort Worden State Park. Walk the 2-mile stretch of sandy beach or one of the many walking trails. Explore the old military bunkers, marine science center, lighthouse, and so much more! You could easily spend a whole day here alone.

Downtown Port Townsend

Head back into town and stroll through the historic downtown. There are cute shops to check and out some great restaurants. Vintage by Port Townsend Vineyards is a great place to grab a glass of wine.

Finnriver

On the way home, stop in Chimacum for an organic cider and some of the best gluten-free pizza! They also have other offerings such as fresh salads, vegan burgers, and brats.

Sol Fed Salt Creek
Cresent Beach

Port Angeles

Country Aire Market

Stop at this charming natural foods market for a matcha, coffee, smoothie, the fixings for a picnic lunch, and snacks on your way to the beach. They have a large array of all things organic & holistic and you may even spot a fun snack you haven’t seen before.

Crescent Beach

Crescent Beach is one of my all-time favorite beaches in Washington. It’s an expansive, flat, sandy beach that is perfect for kids to run and play, taking a stroll, watching surfers out in the waves, and searching for beach treasures.

Alder Wood Bistro

This yummy restaurant in Sequim is well worth a stop on the way home. It serves homemade, nourishing, amazing food. The pizza is so good. The fish sticks and french fries are amazing and gluten-free! AND they use not-so horrible for you oils.

Dungeness Spit

Sequim

Red Dog Coffee

This drive-thru coffee shop is conveniently located right off the exit into Sequim and it serves matcha and coffee.

Dungeness Spit

This narrow strip of land is an amazing place to explore. Play at the beach at the bottom of the path or walk out to the lighthouse! It’s about an 11-mile walk round trip if you walk all the way out there.
