Things to Do in Leavenworth

Sol Fed Leavenworth

Leavenworth is one of my favorite little mountain towns in Washington. Located just two hours outside of Seattle, this Bavarian-style village in the middle of the Cascades offers so many fun things to do all year round. Spring is an amazing time to visit to enjoy a variety of wildflowers before the heat of summer. Summer is perfect for floating the Wenatchee River that runs through town. Oktoberfest is the most popular time to visit, drawing in visitors from all over to enjoy live music, traditional food, and of course, beer. Whether you enjoy downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, or snowshoeing, Leavenworth has it all going on in winter.

The town of Leavenworth is full of specialty shops, great restaurants, and wineries. While Leavenworth is famous for its wide selection of German food, I am always on the lookout for healthy restaurants and this little town just so happens to have two of my favorites!

Every town I visit, it is my goal to find the best natural foods market, healthy restaurants, and a coffee shop that serves matcha. If any of those things interest you, you’ll find the best places to go here!

Healthy Restaurants

Mana

Mana is a local, organic, ingredient-inspired, multi-course culinary experience. Every dish was stunning, thoughtfully planned out, and oh so delicious. This 3-hour, 8-course meal with wine pairings was truly an experience I won’t forget.

Leavenworth Mana Restaurant

Located in the outskirts of town, this little restaurant is a true gem and is worth the drive to Leavenworth alone!

Mana is only open Friday-Sunday and you must have a reservation. You can visit their website and make a reservation here.

Argonaut Espresso Bar & Sidewalk Cafe

This cute little outdoor restaurant located at the far end of town is my favorite spot for a matcha latte (the best in town) & gluten-free avocado toast. Sit and enjoy your breakfast in the mountain air with a view of the mountains in the background.

They offer amazing coffee, matcha, chai, and even a mushroom & maple latte! While their menu is small, there is something for everyone! My go-to is their Hipster Toast on gluten-free bread.

Leavenworth Argonaut Matcha

Yodelin Broth Company and Beer Garden

One of my all-time favorite restaurants. I love the vibe, the views, the music, the food, the drinks, the cider, and their philosophy. I wish every town had a restaurant like this.

The food is vibrant, fresh, local, delicious, and beautiful. From veggie-filled noodle bowls with homemade bone broth to grass-fed beef burgers, there is so much to love. No matter what you order, you can expect large portions with loads of fresh, colorful veggies. My go-to is the Kiwanda Rice Bowl.

This was the restaurant that first introduced me to my all-time favorite cider- Independent Perry’s Snow Gem Dry. The company described so accurately that it’s “unique, familiar, yet fundamentally different”. It’s almost more like champagne. Light and bubbly, not heavy like a lot of other ciders. Learn more about them here.

Yodelin’s mission is to cook the healthiest food to inspire the mind and body. Build a restaurant that creates community and equality for all. Cause no unnecessary harm to the environment. And that is what they do.

No plastic straws, no plastic wrap, and no ziplock bags. No Teflon pans. 100% electric kitchen, no fossil fuels. Organic GMO-FREE safflower oil. No pan spray, pan sprays contain propellent (propane).

A trip to Leavenworth isn’t complete without at least one meal from Yodelin!

Local Yokel

Local Yokel is a little hole-in-the-wall restaurant with many healthier gluten-free options including sandwiches, avocado toast, baked goods, matcha lattes, smoothies, and juices.

Larch

Larch is focused on the bounty of the northwest combined with the many shapes and flavors of pasta. If you are gluten-free, while you may not be eating the pasta dishes, I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed! The starters, specifically, the roasted mushrooms are out of this world!

Whistlepunk Ice Cream

Whistlepunk Ice Cream serves some of the most delicious plant-based ice cream I have ever had. The chocolate ice cream is more like a frozen custard… it is so dang good.

Bushel & Bee

Bushel & Bee is an inviting taproom with a great atmosphere and an impressive selection of ciders, beers, and meads.

J5

J5 Coffee Shop and Espresso Bar is the cutest little shop. It has yummy matcha’s and the cutest health-minded goodies and gifts.

Things to do

Icicle Ridge Trail

Icicle Ridge Trail is a 5.5 mile, 1,700 ft elevation gain hike with a variety of beautiful wildflowers and amazing views of Leavenworth and the surrounding area. The ridgetop has a large area for hikers to spread out and enjoy the view, eat lunch, and rest before hiking back down.

Located just 4 minutes out of town, Icicle Ridge trail was the perfect hike to incorporate into our getaway! Here is a list of some of the other great hikes in the area

This is a hike I have yet to do, but dream of doing!

Nestled on the banks of Icicle Creek, 8-Mile Campground is located just close enough to town while still offering a peaceful outdoor experience.

Shops

Sage Mountain Natural Foods

This natural market is always my first and last stop when in Leavenworth. Sage Mountain offers a large variety of organic produce, lots of healthier gluten-free grab-and-go items, health and beauty, supplements, and anything else you may need.

There are so many cute boutiques in town. My favorites include Posy, J5, Mountain Modern Supply Co., Copper Creek, and Culture.
