Located in the Olympic Peninsula, Port Townsend, a charming little town by the sea, has so much natural beauty and so many fun outdoorsy things to do.
My Recommendations
Healthy Restaurants
Finnriver Farm & Cidery is a destination in itself. It is located just outside of Port Townsend in a little town called Chimacum. They are an organic farm that makes their own cider. There are a couple of restaurant options including Finnriver Kitchen which has a simple, healthy menu including salads, vegan burgers, brats, and the yummiest vegan, gluten-free ice cream sandwiches. And Dented Bouy serves THE BEST gluten-free pizzas with fresh toppings including tomatoes, zucchini, potatoes and kale.
One of the best parts about Finnriver is the setting. They have a covered area with heaters as well as a large outdoor area where kids can run and be free! Guests are free to roam the orchards.
This cute little coffee shop has yummy matcha as well as lots of gluten-free treats. Not refined sugar free but sometimes ya gotta splurge and live a little!
Authentic, fresh, homemade Mexican food. Even the salsas, chips, and tortillas are homemade!
Port Townsend Vineyards’ winery is located near the city’s southern entry. There is a large grassy area with lawn games which makes it great for kids!

Parks & Trails
This waterfront park is located just a couple of minutes away from the main strip and has so much to offer. It has a playground, pretty grounds, flower gardens, a beach to explore, and beautiful views of the Cascades.
Fort Warden State Park is a must when in Port Townsend. It has a 2-mile stretch of beach that is sandy, perfect for swimming and is full of logs that are great for building forts. Fort Worden’s expansive campus provides miles of beaches and hiking trails as well as lots of space for lawn games.
There are old military bunkers to explore, a marine science center, a lighthouse, walking trails, restaurants, and so much more! You could easily spend a whole day here alone.
Fort Warden State Park has vacation rentals and campsites.
Larry Scott Memorial Trail is a 14-mile trail in Port Townsend. We like to park at a pullout near the paper mill on Mill Road and walk or ride bikes down to the Port Townsend Boat Haven which has a great little beach.

Pope Marine Park
This little waterfront park located in town has a little playground, a grassy area, and a beach to explore.
Other Things to Do
Jefferson County Farmers Market
The farmers market is on Saturdays and has amazing local produce, live music, and lots of yummy food stands including a vegan ice cream stand, Fiddlehead Creamery.
Wilderbee Farm is an organic, family-run farm. They have u-pick lavender, flowers, and pumpkins. They also have a Meadery, raise honey bees, have a cute little farm store, sheep that you can feed, and even have walking trails. We love going in the summer to pick flowers and in October to get our pumpkins.
This store doesn’t look like much from the outside, but let me tell ya… they carry all the good stuff! Anything healthy, organic, local, and delicious- they have it. But only the good stuff. They even make their own healthier, gluten-free, paleo treats!
Soak on the sound has salt-water soaking tubs, Infrared and Finnish steam saunas, and salt therapy. Visit this spa to experience the healing powers of soaking & sweating!
Port Townsend is one of my favorite local towns to visit. I hope you have the chance to check it out if you are in the area.
